Earthquake and Tsunami Notifications Websites

USGS Earthquake Notification Service
Completely Customizable
New accounts default to receiving notifications about earthquakes with magnitude 6.0 or greater
however you can customize ENS to only deliver messages for certain areas, at specified times,
and to multiple addresses. ENS can even send text notifications to your cell phone.

Govdelivery Weather Updates
Provides a notification service for a full list of services including WCATWC

Setting up an E-mail Early Warning System
You can get an email address that you only use for these notification systems and nothing else.
Some of the places you can get a free email address are Google Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc, etc.
Then, install a dedicated email program just for that email account, that will play a customizable sound
when you get a new email.  I use Mozilla Thunderbird.  You can set it to automatically
check for new messages every couple of minutes or so, and to use a long mp3 file as its sound.
Then get a cheap set of computer speakers and set them near the head of your bed so they will wake
you if you get a message in the middle of the night.
